EESI has been monitoring the Kangaroo Ground and the Plenty Landfills for the Nillumbik Shire Council quarterly since 2016 in accordance with the sites’ aftercare management plan. They have consistently produced reports on the compliance of the council in their management of groundwater, leachate, surface water and landfill gas. When exceedances in some contaminate levels were discovered, EESI was engaged in research and reporting on management and reduction options.

This consistent monitoring done by EESI highlights the positive outcomes that come with following aftercare management plans. EESI has committed to continually review, monitor, and suggest how to remediate new issues encountered, and to closely monitor the areas that seem to be showing inconsistencies with previous results.
