Waste Classification Reports

Expert soil science and environmental consultancy for accurate, regulatory-compliant waste classification.

Why accurate waste classification matters

Managing waste from contaminated land is a regulatory requirement and a key step in protecting people, the environment and your project's budget. At EESI, we provide precise waste classification reports that meet state regulations, enabling you to make informed decisions about disposal, treatment, and reuse.

Incorrect waste classification can lead to costly disposal, regulatory breaches and unnecessary environmental harm.

At EESI, we ensure your waste is categorised correctly under application regulations, so you can:

  • Comply with state EPA and landfill acceptance criteria
  • Minimise disposal costs by diverting suitable materials from high-cost waste streams
  • Reduce risk of contamination spread during transport and disposal
  • Maintain project timelines with fast, reliable reporting

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is waste classification important?

You want to ensure your waste is handled legally, safely and in the most cost-effective way so that it doesn't have a negative effect on your budget or timeline.

What information do you need from me?

As a minimum, we'll ask about the type and quantity of material, site history, any known contaminants and disposal timelines. The more information we obtain in the initial consultation, the quicker we can finalise the site investigation plan.

How long will it take to get my waste classification report?

Most projects are completed within 5 - 7 business days. However, depending on project scope, we can deliver a waste classification report as quickly as 72 hours.

What happens if my site is classified as contaminated?

Your waste classification report will recommend compliant disposal or treatment options and we'll help you plan the next steps.

Can waste be reused, or must it always be disposed of?

Not all classified waste goes to landfill. Some materials can be reused if they meet the criteria for Virgin Excavated Material or other low-risk categories, reducing both cost and environmental impact. Your waste classification report will provide more detail on this.
